## Identify Nearby Civilians

ID Check lets officers request a nearby civilian's ID directly from the [in-game overlay](/cad/integration-plugins/erlc/in-game-overlay.md). The civilian's Sonoran CAD character appears as a Liberty County identification card, including their photo, name, date of birth, address, and identifying details such as height, weight, hair, and eye color.

The card uses the character's saved information. Fields that have not been filled in display as not provided.

## Using ID Check

1. Connect your community's ER:LC server and link your Roblox account using the [Getting Started guide](/cad/integration-plugins/erlc/getting-started.md).
2. In the Sonoran CAD desktop app, open Police or Dispatch with an active unit and select the ER:LC server you are playing in.
3. Open the [in-game overlay](/cad/integration-plugins/erlc/in-game-overlay.md#using-the-in-game-overlay) and approach a player on the **Civilian** team.
4. When their username appears at the bottom of the overlay, click **Request ID** to view their character's identification card.
5. Close the card with **X**, or press **Escape** while the overlay is focused.

## Character Records

The civilian must have a [registered character](/cad/integration-plugins/erlc/character-creation.md) associated with their Roblox account. ID Check uses their selected character when one is available and respects your community's character record permissions.

The prompt appears for nearby civilians, including civilians seated in vehicles. Other first responders do not appear as ID Check targets. Allow a few seconds for the prompt to update after approaching someone or after they change teams.
